APRIL 2009 - Sears Holdings Corporation Renews at Major Distribution Center

Dedeaux Properties LLC (www.dedeauxproperties.com) is pleased to announce the renewal of

long-standing client Sears Holdings Corporation in Ontario, CA, at its approximate 823,000 sq. ft

facility in Ontario, CA.


Constructed as part of the 1.3 million square foot Dedeaux Inland Empire Park in 1994, the

property was a build-to-suit for Sears serving as their west coast appliance distribution center.  At

the time of construction, the facility was one of largest distribution facilities ever constructed in

the state beginning an era of “mega” distribution centers as overseas manufacturing and resulting

increase in trade through the ports lead to a boom in growth of similar type facilities in the

region.


Dedeaux Properties, LLC. was founded by legendary and colorful baseball coach and business icon

Rod Dedeaux.  Coach Dedeaux’s exploits on the baseball diamond have been well-documented and

he was best known for leading the University of Southern California to 11 National Championships,

coaching two Olympic teams in 1964 and 1984, and being named College Baseball Coach of the

Century.  However, Mr. Dedeaux also used his abundance of energy and business acumen to found

the transportation and warehousing firm, Dart, in 1938 which grew over the years to a nationwide

logistics firm offering third party facility management, warehousing, e-commerce fulfillment and

transportation with over 1,000 employees.


Over the past 60 years, Mr. Dedeaux and his management team began acquiring industrial properties

for the use by the company. As the company evolved and needs changed, Dart began to lease a

portion of its buildings to key customers as it acquired additional buildings to suit the needs of a

growing enterprise.


As the years progressed, many customers and tenants began requesting newer or larger facilities in

different locations and Dedeaux Properties was formed… always based on servicing the needs of its

clients.


True to its history, Dedeaux Properties has continued to construct and/or acquire buildings for many

of its customers. And the business has progressed into speculative development and sale/leaseback

opportunities in order to continue to grow the business.
